National Confab: On 50% derivation we stand - S' SOUTH

                                                                 President Jonathan
The South-South Peoples Assembly led by its Chairman, Mr. Akpan Obong has taken a stand on the proposed National Conference, demanding 50% derivation for oil producing states.

Mr. Obong stated this during the South-South Zonal Conference on the National Dialogue in Calabar Tuesday.

The Chairman said states in which oil and gas are derived should be given 50% of the earnings of those resources.

He frowned at the current situation in which peanuts are given to oil bearing states while the people suffer all the environmental degradation.

"The constitution should be amended  to reflect that oil producing states get 50% of the revenue accruing from oil", he said.
